MLB scores: Gordon homers twice, Cespedes drives in 5

Cespedes drove in five of the A’s 13 runs, and Alex Gordon shocked Kansas City by hitting a ball all the way over the fence. Twice.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes drove in five of the team's 13 runs against the Indians in a 13-3 rout in Cleveland. Cespedes only recorded two hits, but he led the charge against Justin Masterson and the majority of Cleveland's bullpen.

Masterson lasted 4⅓ innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and five walks. Josh Outman, Scott Atchison and Cody Allen combined to give up six runs, four of them earned. To finish out the game, Kyle Crockett and John Axford pitched a total of two scoreless innings for Cleveland.

Alex Gordon homers twice, Kansas City explodes

The Royals are the least homer-y team in baseball and the fans know it all too well. So when Alex Gordon hit his second home run of the day, he effectively raised the serotonin levels of the entire city.

Here’s a link to his first three-run homer of the day.

Rockies turn triple play c/o interference call

The Rockies turned a triple play for the third time in team history and it came with a little help from the umpires. Initially, it appeared Colorado would have to settle for a double play after Carlos Quentin beat the throw to first. The second base umpire, however, called interference on Seth Smith, resulting in a triple play.
