MLB scores: Josh Beckett no-hits the Phillies, Nelson Cruz homers again

Beckett threw the first Dodgers no-no since 1996.

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Josh Beckett held the Phillies without a hit to record the first no-hitter of his career and the first this season. There have been a few close calls -- like Yu Darvish's 8⅔ innings of hitlessness and Danny Duffy's sort-of-near-perfect game -- but Beckett was able to finish the job on Sunday.

The last Dodgers no-no was pitched by Hideo Nomo in 1996 at Coors Field. It was the 21st in franchise history and the 11th since the club moved to Los Angeles. The Phillies hadn't been no-hit at home since 1969.

Nelson Cruz doesn't care what you think, leads league in homers

There’s almost no way he could be doing steroids now and he’s better than he’s ever been. The narrative doesn’t exactly fit into the general understanding of justice, but hey, the world is a complicated place and dingers are cool.

Benches clear in Red Sox-Rays game, Escobar and Gomes ejected

Yunel Escobar stole third -- officially scored fielder's indifference -- in an 8-3 game and David Ross was displeased.

Shin-Soo Choo singles to lead off the game, DJs sweet Rangers dance party

The Rangers battered Tigers starter Justin Verlander, tagging him for nine runs (six earned runs). The Rangers have gotten a lot of bad news this year with injuries to just about every notable player on their roster, but free agent signing Shin-Soo Choo is healthy -- and he emcees interstellar dance parties.
