Not all the news coming out of the Braves' Friday night win against the Angels was good for Atlanta; star outfielder Jason Heyward was forced to leave the game after being hit by a C.J. Wilson pitch on his hand in the bottom of the first inning.
Jason Heyward has bruised hand, Gregory Polanco has huge day
Friday was a rough day for Jason Heyward, the Baltimore Orioles and fans of teams don’t currently employ Gregory Polanco.

Although he managed to stay in the game through the bottom of the inning -- eventually scoring on an Evan Gattis home run -- he was replaced in the next inning by Jordan Schafer. After X-rays came back negative, he is being listed as day-to-day to recover from what's being called a bruised hand.
With their precarious position tied atop the NL East with the Washington Nationals, and his projected five wins above replacement, the Braves are probably hoping that "day-to-day" is as bad as things get.
Polanco’s Big Day
In addition to his five hits and game-winning home run, Pirate wunderkind Gregory Polanco managed to make a run-saving catch. With this only his fourth major league game, we shudder to think what he'll do in the fifth one.
O’s couldn’t score, could have been worse
The Baltimore Orioles had a rough go of itt, getting nine hits in their game in Toronto and scoring zero times against the division-leading Blue Jays. However, this was still nowhere near as bad as what happened to the Los Angeles Dodgers in August of 2008. On the 25th of that month, they managed to get 13 hits, have 14 players left on base and hit 1 for 17 with runners in scoring position in a 5-0 loss to the Phillies.
