St. Louis Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright will skip his start Monday against the Mets due to tendinitis in his pitching elbow. The news may sound scary, but Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak doesn't see much cause for concern.
MLB roundup: Adam Wainwright sits, Bryce Harper starts rehab
Adam Wainwright will skip Monday’s start with elbow inflammation, while Bryce Harper looks to start playing catch again very soon.

"I think this is more precautionary than anything else," Mozeliak told reporters before his team's game against the Nationals. "It was something that we just didn't want to push if we didn't have to, and he agreed."
Wainwright missed the 2011 season after having surgery on the same elbow. However, he was quick to emphasize that the joint is structurally sound and is not a cause for concern despite giving him discomfort during his two previous starts.
According to what Mozeliak told the Associated Press, it hasn’t been determined who will take Wainwright’s spot: “Obviously we can sit here and triangulate who might get this opportunity, but we haven’t spoken with anybody yet and the fact is it could change depending on how the next couple days go. So it’s fluid.”
Bryce is back! (Kind of)
Bryce Harper (thumb) will pick up a bat & take light swings & play catch for first time next week, per Williams. No BP yet; he's easing in.
