MLB scores: MLB celebrates dads, Royals stretch winning streak to 7

Scores, highlights, and miscellany from Sunday’s games.

Jamie Squire

The Kansas City Royals have won seven games in a row to jump from 29-32 to tie the Tigers with 36 wins after their 6-3 victory over the White Sox on Sunday. The Royals are still in second place, a game-and-a-half back of the 36-29 Detroit Tigers, but in sweeping Chicago, the Royals have taken the first step in setting themselves apart from the crowded middle of the AL Central.

The notoriously light-hitting Royals launched two homers -- a two-run blast to center by Eric Hosmer and a three-run bomb to right by Salvador Perez -- and leaned on a strong performance by wild animal James Shields.
