Jose Reyes did not start for Toronto on Sunday, and the Jays watched Jose Bautista and Brett Lawrie leave the field during their 4-3 loss to the Reds as well. Reyes exited Saturday’s game after fouling a ball off of his shin, Lawrie has a fractured finger from a hit-by-pitch, and Bautista pulled up lame after bunting in the third inning.

And they had to face Johnny Cueto.


Why one of the best power hitters in the game was bunting seems to be the real issue on that play, but the Blue Jays are (still) in first place despite dropping Sunday’s game, so manager John Gibbons has probably earned the benefit of the doubt.
