Clayton Kershaw and Felix Hernandez continued to define the word "ace" on Sunday. That term gets lobbed around a lot in baseball punditry. So much so that the word itself has lost nearly all meaning outside of tennis and the hardware industry, but if Hernandez and Kershaw aren't aces, then aces don't exist.
MLB scores: Kershaw, Felix show off Cy Young form
Scores, highlights, and miscellany from Sunday’s games.

Kershaw dissected the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, throwing seven shutout innings and striking out 13. He extended his streak of scoreless innings to 28, including the nine-inning stretch that resulted in a no-hitter against the Colorado Rockies on June 18. During that span, Kershaw has struck out 36 hitters and walked just three.
Hernandez pitched eight innings, allowing just one hit and striking out nine batters. Like Kershaw, Hernandez picked up a win and continued to push his ERA down toward 2.00. It doesn’t really seem possible, but based on their numbers over the last few months, both Hernandez and Kershaw might somehow be getting better.
Well, only about $200 million and 17 years to go
Alex Gordon, Alcides Escobar and Albert Pujols. #Badbaserunning #GoldGlove #kcroyals #AngelsBaseball https://t.co/OzMXorw61G
— Jim McClintock (@pimpino) June 29, 2014 To be fair, Pujols is about 44 years old, so sliding probably isn't a great idea anyway.
