The Rays seem to have finally washed the Red Sox stink off of them. They secured a 4-0 win against the Seattle Mariners to end a ten-game losing streak that began after they beat their rivals to give them their tenth straight loss.
Rays beat Mariners to end 10-game slide, Ryu doubles
It was doubles night in the MLB Friday. The Rays rode four of them to a victory and the end of a ten-game losing streak, and Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu hit one to try and give himself run support.

The Rays used four pitchers for the shutout. Erik Bedard led the way with eight strikeouts in six innings before handing it off to his bullpen, which collectively gave up one hit and struck out six to finish out the game. But, while the win is nice, the streak that proceeded it is one that may end up knocking the Rays out of playoff contention early this season; they are still 14 games back in the AL East.
With no one in Friday night's starting line up who has more than 40 career ABs hitting over .286 , simply being able to score four runs is a feat for the Rays, even at home. The game was highlighted by the four doubles hit by four separate batters -- James Loney, Evan Longoria, Kevin Kiermaier and Ben Zobrist. Against a team with a winning record like the Mariners, any win may be the start of something positive. Or at least a regression to the mean.
