2014 MLB All-Star Game lineups, starters announced

Find out who’s taking the mound and who they’ll be facing for Tuesday’s All-Star Game at Target Field.

Mike McGinnis

The lineups have been announced for the 2014 All-Star Game, which takes in Minnesota’s Target Field on Tuesday. We’ve known who the players would be for a while now thanks to the votes of the fans, but now we know what order we’ll see them in. First up, the man of the hour whether you like it or not, retiring shortstop and future Hall of Famer Derek Jeter.

It’s unclear how long Jeter will play in the game, but this is likely to guarantee he’ll get more than the one plate appearance, or in order to just get that first (and last) one out in front.

The National League lacks a retiring legend, but that’s OK, because they’ve got plenty of youth and depth on their side.

You could spend some time trying to narrow down who the comparatively weak link is in this starting nine. They don’t play until tomorrow, so you’ve got plenty of it to work with.

Taking on these lineups will be Adam Wainwright for the Senior Circuit and Felix Hernandez representing the AL. John Farrell, manager on the AL side, has said he doesn't expect any of his pitchers to throw more than a single inning in this game. Given the tightness of the playoff race in his league, purposefully avoiding piling on innings should keep executives everywhere happy. As for Wainwright, he's just happy to get to face Jeter for the first time in his career.
