Yu Darvish deals in Toronto, Jonny Gomes comes through in a pinch
The Rangers’ ace matches a season-high in strikeouts, while Jonny Gomes plays the role of hero for a mildly-surging Red Sox team.

Gomes hits game-winning pinch hit HR (in sixth inning)
Jonny Gomes and Xander Bogaerts both went deep in the sixth inning as the Red Sox beat the Royals, 5-4. Gomes was brought in as a pinch hitter, and it proved to be a smart move.
The game also featured a ball girl becoming Internet famous after accidentally playing a fair ball, and more importantly, making this face afterwards:

A lot of teams are still in the playoff hunt thanks to the second wild card, meaning less teams are trading away key players. The second wild card is also leading to weird quirks such as this weekend’s schedule.
Of 12 @MLB teams with at least 50 wins, 8 are matched up against one another this weekend (MIL-WSH, LAD-STL, SEA-LAA and BAL-OAK)
