Odrisamer Despaigne has no-hitter through 7 innings vs. Mets
The Padres’ new right-hander has held the Mets hitless through seven.

The 27-year-old rookie signed with the Padres this season after defecting from Cuba just over a year ago. He fled while in Europe with the Cuban national team.
Coming into Sunday’s game against the Mets, Despaigne had posted a 1.35 ERA in four starts with an 0.98 WHIP and a 2-1 record. He also appeared in seven games in the Padres’ minor league system, putting up a 6.03 ERA over 31⅓ innings.
He is set to face the bottom of the Mets’ batting order in the eighth before it turns over -- the pitcher’s spot, leadoff man Curtis Granderson and Daniel Murphy. Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler struck out seven batters and walked one in six innings of work. Grandal’s home run has been the only offense produced by either team so far.
