Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright pitched scoreless baseball into the eighth inning to beat the Giants at AT&T Park in San Francisco on Wednesday night, snapping a three-game skid for St. Louis.
Adam Wainwright beats Giants for 11th win
Wainwright leads the major leagues in ERA and is tied for the major league lead in wins.

Wainwright struck out only one batter, but also allowed just four hits and two walks in winning his 11th game, the first National League pitcher to do so this season. Wainwright is now tied with Rick Porcello of the Tigers and Masahiro Tanaka of the Yankees for the major league lead in wins.
The Cardinals scored four runs in four games in Los Angeles, then were shutout by the Giants in the series opener on Tuesday night. Their run of 26 consecutive scoreless innings was snapped in the third inning, when a four-hit rally was punctuated by RBI singles from Matt Carpenter and Matt Holliday.
With his 7⅔ scoreless innings, Wainwright overtook Johnny Cueto of the Reds for the major league lead with a 1.89 ERA.
Springer springs into action
Astros rookie sensation George Springer isn't just a big bat for Houston, as the Mariners' Brad Miller found out in the second inning on Wednesday.
Mookie finds a familiar face
Red Sox rookie Mookie Betts hit his first major league home run on Wednesday against the Cubs, and the ball was caught by someone from his native Tennessee.
Absolutely bizarre... Mookie's home run was caught by a kid he played against in high school. At Fenway randomly, not for Mookie.
