Cliff Lee to DL with left flexor pronator strain
Philadelphia’s lefty Cliff Lee took himself out of Thursday’s game against the Nationals with what appears to be a serious elbow injury.

After the game the Phillies placed Lee on the 15-day disabled list with what they termed a left flexor pronator strain. An MRI exam is scheduled for Friday.
According to Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia, Lee knew almost immediately something was wrong.
Lee threw pitch, said F-word, waved arms that he was done, gestured toward his elbow, left game.

Not pictured is what happened next, as according to the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Matt Gelb, Lee “looked as if he might cry in the dugout.” With the Phillies 12.5 games behind their current opponents, the Nationals, in the NL East and 11 games behind Atlanta for the second Wild Card spot, their season is all but over.
Unfortunately, for Cliff Lee, it appears that his season is just over. When asked if he had thrown his last pitch in 2014, Lee told reporters, “That’s probably the case,” per Matt Gelb of the Philly Inquirer.
To take Lee's place on the roster, the Phillies called up left-handed pitcher Cesar Jimenez from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
