Red Sox outfielder Yoenis Cespedes left after the third inning of the team's game against the Angels on Friday due to a "family medical emergency," Boston manager John Farrell told Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald.
MLB roundup: Yoenis Cespedes exits early due to family emergency
Boston’s struggling outfielder was unable to complete the team’s game against the Angels because of a personal matter.

Cespedes, who was acquired by Boston in the trade that sent Jon Lester to the Athletics, struck out in his lone plate appearance but recorded an outfield assist by throwing out Josh Hamilton at the plate to end the first inning.
The 28-year-old Cuban slugger is hitting just .232/.239/.420 since the trade. Prior to that, Cespedes hit 17 home runs and posted a .464 slugging percentage for Oakland.
Without Cespedes for most of the game, the Red Sox managed just one hit against Angels starter Matt Shoemaker and a pair of relievers. Shoemaker at one point retired 20 consecutive batters and took a no-hitter into the seventh before Will Middlebrooks' two-out double.
The Angels capped off a four-game sweep of the Red Sox with a 2-0 victory.
Nats win 10th straight
The Nationals beat the Diamondbacks, 1-0, to win their 10th consecutive game. The contest ended in strange fashion, when Arizona third baseman Jordan Pacheco fielded a routine grounder off the bat of Anthony Rendon but bounced the throw to first into the camera bay next to the Washington dugout, allowing Denard Span to trot home after being awarded an extra base.
