The Nationals' hot streak came to an end Friday when the Giants defeated the NL East leaders, 10-3. The loss ending a string of ten consecutive wins for Washington that included a stunning five separate walk-off wins in the team's last six games. The streak, tied with the Royals' run earlier this year for longest of the season, managed to finally separate Washington from the division rival Braves despite the latter's own 7-3 record in their last 10 games.
Giants end Nationals winning streak at 10
Despite a late scare, the Giants were able to hold off the streaking Nationals, ending their double-digit string of wins.

While no Giants pitcher was particularly dominate, a strong showing by Tim Hudson -- who went five innings and gave up just one earned run (two total) -- was followed by three and two thirds innings of shutout relief. But even if they hadn't pitched so well, the Panik attack that the Nats had in the fourth inning when rookie second baseman Joe Panik belted a three-run homer set off one of the better offensive performances the Giants' anemic offense has had all season.
From the fourth inning on, the Giants scored seven runs, including four in the ninth inning as they padded their lead as much as possible to avoid falling victim to whatever magic mojo the Nationals have had going the past few weeks.
It’s been a long season in Philadelphia
A jarring number: The Phillies have played 33 series without winning consecutive sets. Longest streak since 53 straight from 96-97.
