Braves lose 8 straight, Eaton loses fight with wall

The Braves and Eaton are both hurting right now.

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Wednesday marked the eighth-straight loss for the Atlanta Braves, falling to the Seattle Mariners for the second consecutive day. Even Atlanta's ace Julio Teheran continued to struggle, getting lit up for six runs on nine hits over six innings, though he did strikeout five against only two walks. Teheran has been enduring a rough patch that started on July 8, and saw him earn a 4.31 ERA heading into this afternoon's action. That's only going to go up after today, as Atlanta continues to flounder.

While their skid started with losses to the Dodgers, the five straight losses to the Padres and Mariners is a tough pill to swallow for a team that fancies itself a contender. On the bright side for Atlanta, the vast majority of the losses were close losses, but that's not much of a silver lining.

Dustin Ackley and Logan Morrison provided home runs in the win for the Mariners, as Chris Young went five innings and allowed three runs, strikeout out six, and walking one. The win puts the Mariners one game back of the Blue Jays for the second wild card, while the loss drops the Braves four back of the Nationals in the division.

Eaton makes mark

It's not often that Adam Rosales hits a home run, so it was nice of Adam Eaton to make this one memorable, by running full speed into the fence. It was another example of Eaton's all out style of play, that is heavy on the effort. Of course, this effort was all in vain.

Fortunately, the wall didn't knock Eaton's sense of humor out of him
