Former Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington will explain why he suddenly resigned from the position during a 1:30 p.m. CT press conference on Thursday. Washington stepped down on Sept. 5, with no official word released as to why he left.
Ron Washington will explain his resignation from the Rangers on Thursday
Washington has given no explanation for his sudden exit from the Rangers, but he’ll open up now a couple of weeks after.

We have been told why he didn’t leave, at least. Narrowing the list down has only further confused the issue. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said that it was not drug-related, and a source told ESPN that it was not a health issue, either. The initial statement from Washington explained only that it had nothing to do with the performance of the Rangers, and thanked its readers in advance for respecting his privacy in what was a personal matter.
The Dallas Morning News’ Gerry Fraley reported that Washington has two communications firms that “deal in crisis management” working for him. That doesn’t explain what the crisis is, but it does give the impression that there is a crisis to be revealed.
