MLB Thursday viewing guide: Derek Jeter plays final home game

Jim McIsaac

After a farewell tour around various major league cities throughout his 20th and final season, Derek Jeter on Thursday will play his final home game with the Yankees on Thursday night against the Orioles.

Thursday will mark the 2,745th game of Jeter’s career, and his 1,391st regular season home game. But the highlight figures to be the pregame ceremony, with a special video with thank yous and personal tributes from Yankees fans for Jeter.

The Yankees finish their season with three weekend games against the Red Sox at Fenway Park, and there is a chance Jeter might sit out those games so that Thursday in New York is his final game, though no decision has been made.

"I will leave that up to him, very similar to what I did with [Mariano Rivera]," Yankees manager Joe Girardi told reporters on Wednesday, per Alex Speier of WEEI.
