Billy Butler caught wandering off 1B to end wild 1st inning
Eric Hosmer was thrown out at the plate at the end of the bizarre play.

Billy Butler, who had just knocked in Kansas City's first run, kind of took off toward second base before Oakland pitcher Jon Lester started his delivery with Alex Gordon at the plate. Lester simply stepped off the mound and threw to shortstop Jed Lowrie, who began a 1-6-3-2 putout to end the inning.
The A's began the scoring with a two-run homer off the bat of Brandon Moss in the first. Butler cut the deficit in half with a single that plated Nori Aoki.
