The best-of-five series is tied 1-1.
Dallas Keuchel makes his second start of the postseason for the Houston Astros in Game 3 of their American League Division Series against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday afternoon at Minute Maid Park.
This is the first postseason game in Houston since Game 4 of the 2005 World Series.
Keuchel, a leading candidate for the American League Cy Young Award after going 20-8 with a 2.48 ERA while leading the American League with 232 innings pitches, pitched six scoreless innings on three days rest on Tuesday to beat the New York Yankees in the American League Wild Card game.
Sunday’s start will be on regular four days rest for Keuchel, who was 15-0 with a 1.48 ERA in 18 home starts in the regular season.
“I think last year my road stats were better. Just one of those things. I guess as the crowds have gotten better and the support has gotten better, I think we’ve all played better,” Keuchel told reporters on Saturday. “2015 was our year at home. So we’re going to look to build on that, and hopefully we can give these fans some more success.”
Houston won 5-2 over the Royals in Game 1 in Kansas City, then were up 3-0 and 4-1 in Game 2 before the Royals came back to even the series with a 5-4 win on Friday.
“It was a dramatic shift in confidence and belief in their ability after the [2014] Wild Card game. We were down four in the eighth inning against Jon Lester, they came back from that,” Royals manager Ned Yost said Saturday. “And from that point on, the belief has been there, that, hey, we can come back from anything. We can come back being down one game to nothing in a five-game series. We can come back from a 3-0 lead early in the game.”
Kansas City will counter with Edinson Volquez on the mound in Game 4. The right-hander was 13-9 with a 3.55 ERA in 33 starts during the regular season.
MLB Network will televise Game 3 at 4 p.m. ET, with Matt Vasgersian on play-by-play, alongside analyst John Smoltz and reporter Jon Morosi.
