After dropping the opening game of the series, the Chicago Cubs reeled off back-to-back wins and will have a chance to win their National League Division Series against St. Louis at Wrigley Field on Tuesday. The Cubs took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series with an 8-6 win on Monday.
Cardinals vs. Cubs 2015 live stream: Time, TV schedule for NLDS Game 4
The Cubs will go for the series win while St. Louis tries to stay alive.
The series got off to a rough start for Chicago’s offense as the Cubs were shut out in Game 1. That has changed since with the Cubs scoring a combined 14 runs in Games 2 and 3 to take control of the series. It was a power display in Game 3 for the Cubs with six different players hitting a home run. That included both Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo, who entered Game 3 a combined 0-14 in the series.
Now, the Cubs will be challenged to do something they couldn’t do in Game 1 -- score a run on John Lackey. The Cardinals will turn to Lackey on short rest to start Game 4. He was excellent in the series opener, tossing 7 1/3 shutout innings in Game 1 while allowing just two hits. He only threw 86 pitches in the game, but will still be starting on just three days rest.
Jason Hammel will get the start for the Cubs as they attempt to close out the series. If Chicago wins, it would be the first time the Cubs have ever taken a series at Wrigley Field according to Adam Kilgore. Ever.
In order to win, Chicago may need Hammel to be better than he has been recently. Hammel struggled in the second half, posting a 5.10 ERA following the All-Star break. That included Hammel allowing 18 runs in 28 2/3 innings in Sept/Oct.
TBS will handle the television coverage of Game 4 with first pitch scheduled for 4:37 p.m. ET.
