The New York Mets are in the National League Championship Series after a tense 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the Division Series. Unable to close out the series at home, the Mets returned to Los Angeles with starting pitcher Jacob deGrom ready to keep his team playing late into October.

The Mets jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first before deGrom allowed two runs in the bottom of the inning. But he settled down after that and left the game with a 3-2 lead after six innings and seven strikeouts. Daniel Murphy’s solo home run in the top of the sixth inning proved the offensive difference. The relief pitching was stellar with rookie starter Noah Syndergaard pitching an inning of relief and closer Jeurys Familia locking down the final two innings for the save.

This will be the Mets’ first trip to the NLCS since 2006 when they lost in seven games to the eventual World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals. It won’t be a rematch of that series this year, however. The Chicago Cubs eliminated the Cardinals in four games to return to the LCS for the first time in a dozen years.

The Mets will have little time to rest with Game 1 of the new series on Saturday night at Citi Field. When they take the field, how will you be representing your team? The SB Nation Shop has the latest Mets gear to show off your fandom:
