R.A. Dickey starts for the Blue Jays in Toronto, where he was 9-3 with a 3.11 ERA in 17 starts in 2015. Dickey pitched effectively in Game 4 of the ALDS against the Texas Rangers, allowing just one run on five hits with no walks and three strikeouts, but was pulled with two outs in the fifth inning.
Tuesday will mark the second career postseason start for the 40-year-old right-hander, who has started 240 times during the regular season. Dickey pitched seven scoreless innings against the Royals at Rogers Centre on Aug. 2, allowing only two hits and two walks while striking out six.
Kansas City will turn to their own veteran right-hander making a second career postseason start, with 36-year-old Chris Young getting the call. Young was magnificent in relief in Game 1 of the ALDS against the Astros, entering after a rain delay to strike out seven in four innings, allowing only one run.
The Royals, vying for a second straight AL pennant, had their ALCS winning streak snapped at nine straight with Toronto's win in Game 3 on Monday night. The streak began 30 years ago for Kansas City, who won the final three games against Toronto to erase a 3-1 series deficit in 1985, then swept the Baltimore Orioles in four games in 2014. The record of 10 straight League Championship Series wins is held by the Orioles, from 1969-1971 and 1973.
FOX Sports 1 will televise Game 4 starting with a pregame show at 3 p.m. ET. Game coverage begins at 4 p.m. with Joe Buck on play-by-play, alongside analysts Harold Reynolds and Tom Verducci and reporters Ken Rosenthal and Erin Andrews.
The game will be available online via the FOX Sports Go app, with authentication required via a television provider.
