ALCS Game 5 live stream: How to watch Royals vs. Blue Jays online

Kansas City takes a 3-1 series lead into Game 5.

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Blue Jays staved off elimination in the American League Division Series against Texas to eventually prevail and advance to the American League Championship Series. If they are going to advance once more, they will again need to win three straight elimination games, this time against the Kansas City Royals. The first of which will happen Wednesday in Toronto.

The Blue Jays face a must-win situation in Game 5 after getting blown out 14-2 in Game 4. The Blue Jays are familiar with offensive outbursts, but usually its their offense racking up the runs. Instead, Toronto has struggled to score for most of the season -- outside of Game 3 -- and the Royals are the offensive juggernaut. Toronto has scored just five runs in the three losses.

Kansas City has scored 33 runs in the series, including 22 in the two games in Toronto. The Royals are hitting .390 on the road in the series. Kansas City’s offense would make up for a lot of pitching deficiencies, but the staff has also had a solid ALCS. That includes Game 5 starter Edinson Volquez who shut out the Blue Jays over six innings in Game 1. Volquez had struggled mightily in his postseason career prior to the start against Toronto.

Toronto will start 32-year-old Marco Estrada who will once again take the mound facing elimination. He earned the win in Game 3 of the ALDS with Toronto down 0-2. He lasted 5 1/3 innings while allowing three runs on six hits in Game 1 against Kansas City. He did have some success against the Royals during the regular season, however, allowing 12 hits and four runs over 12 1/3 innings in a pair of victories.

The game will be broadcast by FOX Sports 1, which means online coverage from FOX Sports GO for those able to authenticate their cable subscription. Viewers with a MLB.TV postseason subscription can also stream the game live online. Estrada is scheduled to throw out the first pitch at 4:07 p.m. ET.
