Thanks to timely hits and solid pitching, the New York Mets are now one win away from their first World Series appearance since 2000. New York will have four games to notch the one win needed, too, as they bring a 3-0 series lead into Game 4 of their National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs. Game 4 will be in Chicago on Wednesday, with first pitch scheduled for 8:07 p.m. ET.

The Mets go for the series sweep in Chicago.

Chicago now faces a daunting task haven fallen behind 3-0. The Cubs are the 35th MLB team to face a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series. Only the Boston Red Sox in the 2004 ALCS ever completed the comeback. The odds are certainly against the Cubs at this point, but if Chicago is going to make a comeback it will need to be more productive offensively. The Cubs averaged 4.3 runs per game during the regular season. They averaged 5.0 runs per game in the NLDS against St. Louis. Chicago, however, has mustered just five runs in three games (1.7 runs per game) against the Mets.
Beginning with Game 4, the Mets have four games to clinch the series. The next two are in Chicago before a possible Game 6 would be back in New York. While there is considerable margin for error, the Mets could eliminate any thought of a comeback with another all-around performance on Wednesday. The offense hasn’t broken out for a huge game, but has scored at least four runs in each. The pitching has been excellent, as well. Steven Matz will take the mound in Game 4 in what will be his eighth appearance in an MLB game. He pitched well in six starts during the regular season and allowed three runs over five innings in the NLDS.
Game 4 will be broadcast by TBS, giving viewers two options to stream the game online. Those with a postseason subscription to MLB.TV can watch the game live through that service. Others can access a live stream through TBS.com or the TBS mobile app.
