World Series Game 1 live stream: How to watch Mets vs. Royals 2015 online

The Royals are averaging 5.73 runs per game in the 2015 postseason.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Royals host the New York Mets in Game 1 of the 2015 World Series on Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium, with both teams trying to strike first on offense.

The Mets have scored in the first inning in each of their last five games, including a four-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs in the National League Championship Series. New York hasn't trailed since Game 5 of the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Royals aren't immune to early runs themselves, scoring in the first inning in three of their six games against the Toronto Blue Jays, plating six total runs in the opening frame during the American League Championship Series. But Kansas City has proven resilient regardless of who scores first.

In fact, four of the Royals’ seven postseason wins have been of the come-from-behind variety.

Kansas City has simply been a scoring machine as a whole, scoring 63 runs in 11 playoff games, an average of 5.73 per game, all the while hitting .271/.328/.449 with 15 home runs.

New York has been no slouches in offense, scoring 43 runs in its nine games, an average of 4.78 per game. The main fuel for the Mets' offensive engine has been Daniel Murphy, who has been playing out of his mind.

The NLCS MVP has homered in a postseason record six consecutive playoff games, and enters the World Series hitting a robust .421/.436/1.026 with seven home runs in nine games this postseason, with 11 runs scored and 11 RBI.

Murphy is 6-for-15 (.400) with a double and three walks in his career against Edinson Volquez, who starts in Game 1 for Kansas City, though Murphy hasn't homered against him.

FOX starts its coverage with a pregame show at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by coverage of Game 1 of the World Series at 8 p.m. from Kansas City. Joe Buck will call the game alongside analysts Harold Reynolds and Tom Verducci, with reporters Ken Rosenthal and Erin Andrews on the broadcast as well.

Game 1 is also available online via the FOX Sports Go app, with authentication required via a television provider.
