The New York Mets try to get back into the World Series, returning home to host the Kansas City Royals in Game 3 of the Fall Classic on Friday night at Citi Field in New York.

Kansas City leads the best-of-seven series two games to none after capturing both games at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Noah Syndergaard gets the start for the Mets in Game 3, trying to hold off a Royals offense that has scored 12 runs in two World Series games and that has averaged 5.77 runs per game in the postseason. Syndergaard, at 23 the youngest of an impressive and youthful Mets starting rotation, was 9-7 with a 3.24 ERA in 24 regular season starts in his rookie campaign. In the postseason he has a 2.77 ERA in two starts, with 20 strikeouts and six walks in 13 innings.
Syndergaard struck out 27.5 percent of his batters faced during the regular season and has whiffed 38.5 percent so far this postseason. But the Royals have struck out just 16 percent of the time in their 13 postseason games, in line with their 15.9-percent strikeout rate that was lowest in the American League during the regular season.
“Coming back home is a big thing for us. Having the Mets faithful behind us and the greatest fans in baseball,” Syndergaard told reporters on Thursday. “Part of the reason our team has had so much success this year is being to handle the resiliency and come together as a team, overcome and win some ballgames.”
Yordano Ventura starts for the Royals in Game 3, looking to follow a quality start by Edinson Volquez in Game 1 and a complete-game two-hitter from Johnny Cueto in Game 2. The Royals have held the Mets to just five runs scored scored in two games, holding New York to hit just .165/.230/.203 through the first two games of the series.
Game 3 will be televised by FOX with a pregame show at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by game coverage at 8 p.m. with Joe Buck on play-by-play, alongside analysts Tom Verducci and Harold Reynolds, and reporters Erin Andrews and Ken Rosenthal.
The game will be available online via the FOX Sports Go app, with authentication required via a television provider.
