Chris Young was handling the Mets in Game 4 just like he did in relief in Game 1. Then rookie Michael Conforto came up. While Conforto has struggled in the postseason, collecting just a pair of hits in 22 at-bats before Saturday’s game, his power is undeniable. And it was on display with this upper deck blast that put the Mets on top 1-0 in the bottom of the third.
Michael Conforto’s first World Series HR was a massive upper deck shot
Conforto’s dinger only counted for one run, but it certainly looked bigger than that.

That’s Conforto’s second homer in the postseason -- the first came off of Zack Greinke in Game 2 of the National League Division Series. While it only traveled 395 feet per Statcast, a lot of that has to do with the whole “crashing into the upper deck before it could continue forward” thing.
The Mets could use the Conforto who helped propel them to the playoffs in the first place, as the rookie batted .270/.335/.506 with nine homers in his 56 games in the majors. It’ll take more than one homer to do so, but he picked up his second hit of the postseason on Friday, so maybe this is all the start of something for the 22-year-old.
