Yankees vs. Astros 2015 live stream: Time, TV schedule for the AL Wild Card Playoff

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The American League Wild Card is in New York on Tuesday night as the Houston Astros and New York Yankees play for the right to advance to a Division Series matchup with the Kansas City Royals. The Yankees earned the nod as host by finishing with an 87-75 record, one game ahead of the Astros.

Houston just narrowly missed winning the American League West, finishing two games behind the Rangers after sitting atop the division for much of the season. The Astros will now have to win on the road if they are going to make it to the next round. Houston is turning to its ace Dallas Keuchel, who will start on three days’ rest. Keuchel was masterful against the Yankees during the regular season, shutting out New York over 16 innings. He allowed only nine Yankee hits in two starts while striking out 21 batters.

New York will turn to Masahiro Tanaka on the mound. If New York has any shot of advancing, it will likely need a better performance from Tanaka than his only other outing against Houston this season. Tanaka lasted only 5.0 innings in a start against the Astros in June. He allowed six runs, including three home runs.

Houston held a slight edge during the season, winning four of seven games against the Yankees. The game is a chance for both teams to break postseason slumps. New York has not reached the Division round since 2012, while the Astros’ playoff drought has been since 2005. The teams will have the tough task of facing the Royals in the next round, but first they need to win the Wild Card playoff.

ESPN will handle television coverage for the game with first pitch scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. ESPN will lead into the game with an hour-long edition of Baseball Tonight prior to first pitch. ESPN subscribers will also have the option of watching the game live online with a stream from WatchESPN.
