New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes had to leave Game 5 of the World Series after fouling a ball off his left kneecap in the sixth inning on Sunday night at Citi Field in New York.
Yoenis Cespedes leaves World Series Game 5 after fouling ball off left knee

Cespedes batted with the bases loaded and nobody out in the sixth inning, but fouled a 95-mph sinker from Kansas City Royals starter Edinson Volquez directly off his left kneecap and immediately collapsed in pain at the plate.
After meeting with team trainers and Mets manager Terry Collins, Cespedes remained in the game to finish his at-bat, and two pitches later popped out weakly to shortstop. After he hit the ball, Cespedes could barely make it halfway down the first base line, and limped off the field.
Cespedes was replaced in center field in the top of the seventh inning by Juan Lagares.
The good news for the Mets is that X-rays were negative.
No fracture for Cespedes. Contusion. Day to day.

The injury is just the latest blow in a tough World Series for Cespedes, who is 3-for-20 (.150) with one RBI in five games, and has booted two balls in the outfield. He has also battled shoulder and hand injuries.
