San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy was admitted to the hospital on Thursday for a heart-related surgical procedure, the team announced.

Bochy was said to be resting comfortably at Scottsdale Healthcare Medical Center on Thursday night after having two stents inserted. The Giants medical staff was monitoring Bochy’s heart after he experienced discomfort after his physical on Wednesday.
Bochy is expected to be released from the hospital on Friday.
Pitchers and catchers reported to Giants camp on Wednesday, with the first team workout on Thursday.
Bochy, who turns 60 in April, is 1,618-1,604 (.502) in 20 seasons as a manager with the Padres and Giants. In eight years with the Giants, Bochy has a .515 winning percentage and has won three World Series in the last five years. His three championships and four pennants lead all active managers.
The Giants open Cactus League play on Tuesday, March 3 against the Athletics in Mesa.
