The second round of American League All-Star voting has been released, and the Royals are still plastered all over the leader boards. It’s not just Royals, but it certainly feels that way, as their fans have taken to both their team’s success and MLB’s decision to restrict voting to online balloting only.
AL All-Star Game vote updated, Royals still dominating
The AL announced a voting update, and it’s still almost all Royals everywhere.

Mike Moustakas, Alcides Escobar, Salvador Perez, Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon would all be starters for the AL this July were voting to end today. It doesn’t end today, however, as there are four more weeks of updates left, meaning there is still time for Eric Hosmer, Omar Infante and Kendrys Morales to catch up -- all three are currently second in votes at their respective positions.

— MLB Communications (@MLB_PR) June 1, 2015 Not all of these players necessarily deserve these votes: Infante, in particular, sticks out as an oddball given he’s one of the league’s worst hitters two months in, and after a terrible 2014 as well. David Ortiz has been ineffective while Victor Martinez has been bad and hurt, and Marcus Semien probably isn’t getting enough love, though, maybe that’s his glove’s fault. Oh, and Alex Rios, one of 18 players to receive over one million votes to this point, has played in eight games this season. He probably shouldn’t have more support than say, Michael Brantley, who has spent 2015 proving his incredible 2014 was no fluke.
Of course, if you disagree with anything in the voting results to this point -- looking at you, Indians fans -- you can always vote roughly 100,000 times by yourself over the next four weeks. Dig up those old high school email addresses you’re ashamed of and put them to good use.
The 2015 MLB All-Star Game will take place in Cincinnati at the Great American Ballpark on July 14.
