In an alternate universe with slightly different weather patterns, Tuesday’s College World Series schedule would look completely different. In that parallel reality, the rain held off on Sunday night and Cal State Fullerton, riding an eight-inning start from ace pitcher Thomas Eshelman, knocked off Vanderbilt to set up a winners bracket showdown with TCU. Vandy, meanwhile, would be facing elimination against the tournament’s top remaining seed, LSU.
College World Series 2015: Times, TV schedule and live stream for Tuesday
If it wasn’t for a rain suspension, Cal State Fullerton might be taking on TCU in the winners bracket. Instead, the Titans are facing elimination against LSU.

But the rain did come down on Sunday night, suspending the last three innings until Monday. With the team's momentum broken and Eshelman relegated to the dugout, Fullerton watched Vandy rally from a three-run deficit to walk off with a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth. So instead of sitting one game away from Omaha, the Titans are hoping to stave off elimination on Tuesday.
They’ll have to do it against a dangerous and recently humiliated Tigers team that’s still licking its wounds from an ugly 10-3 loss to TCU. And while Fullerton has already burned its ace in a losing effort, LSU still has top arm Alex Lange in the chamber.
TCU, meanwhile, is getting a taste of life in the SEC. After squeaking by Texas A&M in the supers and cruising by LSU in their Omaha opener, the Frogs’ reward is a date with a defending national championship team loaded for bear with MLB Draft picks. But with shutdown closer Riley Ferrell presumably back in dominant form after a bounce-back performance against LSU, TCU’s bullpen is capable of shutting down anyone in the tournament. If the Frogs can carry a lead into the later innings, it’s doubtful that Vandy will be celebrating another comeback.
The loser of LSU-Fullerton heads home, while the winner bounces back up to take on the loser of Vandy-TCU on Thursday. The winner of Vandy-TCU gets to kick back and rest until Friday.
