Not only have the Gators won their two elimination games since falling 1-0 to Virginia on Monday, they’ve won them by a combined 13 runs. They spent most of Wednesday hopping the fence against Miami, hitting more homers in one game (four) than were hit in the entirety of the 2014 CWS, then notched double-digit hits again in the revenge win over Virginia.
As of the writing of this article, Wahoos skipper Brian O’Connor is still trying to decide whether to start Connor Jones or bring back Brandon Waddell -- who pitched seven two-hit innings against the Gators in Monday’s win -- on short rest. Florida’s Kevin O’Sullivan is considering bringing back his own Monday night starter, A.J. Puk, or going with Dane Dunning.
With Vanderbilt having clinched its spot with a Friday night win over TCU, Florida-Virginia slides back into the night slot.
