We have our first big trade of the 2015 baseball season, with the Seattle Mariners acquiring slugger Mark Trumbo and pitcher Vidal Nuno from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for catcher Welington Castillo, infielder Jack Reinheimer, outfielder Gabby Guerrero and pitcher Dominic Leone, the teams announced on Wednesday.

Trumbo is hitting .259/.299/.506 with nine home runs and 10 doubles this season for Arizona, and will presumably give the Mariners another power bat to team with Nelson Cruz and Robinson Cano.
The Mariners, 24-28, rank 14th among 15 American League teams in scoring this season at 3.67 runs per game, but factoring in their pitcher-friendly home park of Safeco Field have a near league-average adjusted OPS+ of 99 (100 is average), despite hitting .238/.298/.395 this season.
Trumbo has played outfield this season but has played first base in his career, the position he would presumably play with Seattle. The Mariners have had Logan Morrison start at first base in 50 of their 52 games this season. He's hitting .245/.322/.396 with six home runs and four doubles.
Trumbo is making $6.9 million this season, leaving the Mariners on the hook for roughly $4.6 million for the remainder of the year. Trumbo has one more season of arbitration eligibility before hitting free agency after 2016.
Nuno has only pitched in three games in relief this season, putting up a 1.88 ERA in 14⅓ innings for Arizona, with 19 strikeouts and five walks. The 27-year-old left-hander was 2-12 with a 4.56 ERA in 31 games last season for the New York Yankees and Diamondbacks, including 28 starts.
Castillo, 28, is 11-for-68 this season, hitting .162/.213/.279 as the backup catcher for the Cubs and Mariners this season. The D-backs will be his third team, and one in need of a catcher as Tuffy Gosewisch was lost for the season this week after surgery to repair a torn ACL.
Castillo is making $2.1 million this season, with roughly $1.4 million remaining, so the Diamondbacks (24-27) shed a little over $3 million in salary in the deal.
Leone, 23, was drafted by the Mariners in 16th round in 2012. He had a 6.35 ERA in 10 relief appearances with Seattle this season, with seven strikeouts and nine walks in 11⅓ innings.
Reinheimer is a 22-year-old shortstop hitting .277/.323/.351 in 48 games with Double-A Jackson, with 12 stolen bases in 13 attempts.
Guerrero is hitting just .215/.262/.305 while playing center field and right field for Double-A Jackson, but at 21 is one of the youngest players in the Southern League. Guerrero was rated the seventh-best prospect in the Mariners’ farm system heading into 2015 by Baseball America.
