The Blue Jays have lost just once in the 13 games since Troy Tulowitzki joined them, and it was the one game that Tulo didn't start. Even then, he tried his best, as he pinch-hit and drew a walk in the ninth, though nothing came of it. Tulo has filled a hole in Toronto's lineup and at shortstop, while David Price has allowed just one run in his two Blue Jays starts (over 15 innings of work). The scary part is Toronto might not be done adding: Marcus Stroman is ahead of schedule, and the young starter could rejoin the rotation before the season ends.
That’s no rumor, but instead straight from the mouth of Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos. Stroman is set to begin a rehab assignment at some point this month after making progress that “stunned” Dr. James Andrews during a recent check-up of his knee. Anthopoulos basically stated that they’ll see how built up Stroman is by the end of the minor-league season on Sept. 7, then go from there, with the goal being to bring him back as a starter.
The Jays have a better rotation with Price being joined by the resurgent Mark Buehrle and R.A. Dickey, and Marco Estrada's turn as a starter has gone wonderfully, but they still have a problem named Drew Hutchison. Hutchison is worse in every way compared to last year, which wasn't any good to begin with, and injuries to Stroman and Aaron Sanchez meant Toronto was stuck with him. Now, though, maybe Stroman can work his way back, and with around a month of games to go, help the Jays with that final push towards October.
- Let's imagine the first half didn't happen, and the MLB season began after the All-Star break. Man, the Phillies sure are an unstoppable force of nature, huh? And what's wrong with Chris Sale?
- PARKOUR!
- The basketball fans among are familiar with Klay Thompson of the NBA champion Golden State Warriors. His brother, Trayce, is an MLB player, and he hit his first career home run on Tuesday night.
- Last year it was Lorde powering the Royals to the playoffs, and this year it's Fetty Wap. Just like with Lorde, Kansas City got a visit from their musical muse.
- The Giants need a solution to the Angel Pagan problem. Like, one better than "keep playing Angel Pagan."
- Nick Swisher (and by extension, Brohio) was too enthusiastic, and it wore out some of his Indians teammates.
- The Yankees are introducing biometric security measures to the lines outside the stadium, which sounds terrible enough before learning that they probably aren't actually making anyone safer.
- Cole Hamels will miss his next start with the Rangers thanks to a sore groin.
- The Dodgers placed Yasiel Puig on waivers, he was claimed, and they pulled him back. If he's going to be traded, it won't be until this offseason.
- The Red Sox need to sort out their outfield for 2016, which might mean finding a different position for Hanley Ramirez while they see if Jackie Bradley Jr. is fixed or just having a good week.
