The 2015 season has been an unmitigated disaster for the Washington Nationals, preseason favorites to win the World Series but entering Saturday just two games over .500 on the year. Now to add injury to insult, reliever Drew Storen appears to have thrown his last pitch of 2015.
Nationals’ Drew Storen breaks thumb slamming locker door shut in frustration

Drew Storen slammed his locker shut after allowing the HR Wednesday. Broke his right thumb. Likely out for the season, Williams said.
— Chelsea Janes (@chelsea_janes) September 12, 2015 Storen allowed a home run to Yoenis Cespedes on Wednesday night, the second straight night Storen allowed a run in relief as the Nationals were swept by the New York Mets. That sweep effectively ended any chances Washington had at the postseason.
Couple that with the fact that Storen was an effective closer for two-thirds of the season for the Nationals, saving 29 games in 31 chances before the club acquired Jonathan Papelbon at the non-waiver trade deadline and gave him Storen's job, and it's understandable that the the last few months have been frustrating for Storen.
The 28-year-old former first-round pick has a 3.44 ERA in 58 games for the Nationals this season, with 67 strikeouts and 16 walks in 55 innings.
The injury is unfortunate, but in many ways emblematic of the Nationals’ 2015 campaign.
