First off, a quick introduction, though if you don’t know what FanDuel is, well, you’re missing out. FanDuel is a site that offers daily fantasy sports games. Participants are given a chance every day to select new players, fill out a lineup and, most importantly, win some cash. If you choose poorly Monday you can come back Tuesday and try again. Easy as that. Click here to enter a $5 FanDuel contest that offers a $10,000 prize today!

As for what we're going to be doing in this space: The goal here will be to direct your attention toward some players who you might not otherwise consider. If you're here and reading this, then you already know that Mike Trout is really good. But when filling out a roster you can't just pick out stars. You'll blow your cap that way and get stuck praying to the baseball gods that a guy like Kelly Johnson actually gets a few hits. No, if you want to win, you have to take advantage of certain matchups -- and in order to do that you have to know where to look. That's what we're here for. Below is the lineup I'll be using for Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Pitcher

Jake Arrieta, P ($12,300): The most expensive, and likely popular pick for Tuesday night, and for good reason. Arrieta has been unhittable since the All-Star break. In 12 starts he's gone 9-1 with a 0.95 ERA and 86 strikeouts. Arrieta is also facing a Brewers team on Tuesday that is ninth in baseball in strikeout rate against right-handers (20.8 percent).

Catcher

Matt Wieters, Orioles ($2,200): One of the night's cheap gambles, which become necessary after putting the high-priced Arrieta in the lineup. The reason to go with Wieters: he has 10 hits in 17 career at-bats against Nationals starter Gio Gonzalez, who he'll face Tuesday night.

First Base

Adrian Gonzalez, Dodgers ($2,700): Another gamble, but any time you can get a hitter of Gonzalez's caliber for this price he's worth taking a flyer on, even if Gonzalez is facing a left-hander in Diamondbacks hurler Robbie Ray. Also, Gonzalez has actually been solid against southpaws this season. He's only hit four home runs, but his .301/.350/.459 is more than serviceable.

Second Base

Robinson Cano, Mariners ($3,200): Jeremy Guthrie takes the hill for the Royals on Tuesday, which means it's time to load up on Mariners left-handed hitters. Lefties this season are hitting .314/.373/.528 off the Kanas City right-hander. That bodes well for Cano.

Third Base

Jed Lowrie, Astros ($2,800): This is pretty simple. The Astros are facing a lefty in Angles starter Hector Santiago. This season Lowrie is hitting .313/.433/.646 off of southpaws.

Shortstop

Wilmer Flores, Mets ($2,900): Flores himself doesn't have a great matchup on Tuesday, but the Mets as a team do (more on that below), which should mean some RBI and run-scoring opportunities for the Mets shortstop, who's been very impressive since the All-Star Game.

Outfield

Curtis Granderson, Mets ($3,400): The Mets face Braves right-hander Matt Wisler Tuesday, which makes Granderson a must-play. For one, left-handed hitters are batting .367/.460/.639 off Wisler. Also, this season Granderson is hitting an awesome 282/.394/.505 off righties with 22 home runs. Look for New York to have a big offensive night, and Granderson to be a major part of it.

Stephen Piscotty, Cardinals ($2,800): The Cardinals get to face Reds starter Keyvius Sampson and his ridiculous 7.09 ERA in 10 starts. Anytime you can get a hitter batting .309/.362/.490 for less than $3,000, you should. When that player is facing a starter with an ERA over 7.00, well, that's the type of option you shouldn't pass up.

Michael Conforto, Mets ($2,700): Perhaps the best play of the night. The troubles that Braves starter Matt Wisler has had against left-handers are mentioned above. Conforto is also hitting .294/.372/.571 off right-handers this season. That's amazing production for a player going for $2,700.
