St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Stephen Piscotty was taken off the field on a stretcher following a scary outfield collision on Monday night. He suffered a head contusion, but all other tests were negative, according to the Cardinals. He will remain in the hospital overnight for further observation.

The play happened in the bottom of the seventh inning when Piscotty raced into the gap, attempting to chase down a fly ball from Pittsburgh’s Josh Harrison. Piscotty, who was playing left field, dove for the ball. At the same time, center fielder Peter Bourjos also ranged over. Bourjos’ knee appeared to hit the sliding Piscotty in the head. Piscotty remained down and Bourjos immediately waived for medical support. You can see video of the play here, but be warned that it is graphic.
Officials brought a stretcher out and Piscotty was carted off the field. While he was being taken off, he was able to wave his hand, according to Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com. The Cardinals would late announcer that Piscotty remained at the hospital overnight, but all of his tests and scans came back negative.
