The Los Angeles Dodgers will be looking to avoid elimination at the hands of the Washington Nationals in Game 4 after losing Game 3 at home, 8-3. The Dodgers faced an increasingly uphill battle after a 28-pitch first inning from Monday’s starter Kenta Maeda, who ultimately allowed four runs in the third inning that keyed the Nationals’ victory.

Game 4 starts at 5:05 p.m. ET and will air on FS1. Kenny Albert, Tom Verducci, Harold Reynolds, and J.P. Morosi will handle the call for the game.

Game 1 saw the Dodgers score four early runs on Max Scherzer, including a Corey Seager home run in the first inning, as their bullpen held on after a laborious five innings from Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw. The Nationals had opportunities to plate more runs, but went just 1 for 10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base in the loss. In Game 2 on Sunday, the Nationals relied on a home run from Jose Lobaton and 4 23 scoreless innings from their bullpen to even the series.

Now with a 2-1 series lead, Washington will look to clinch the organization’s first NLCS since moving to the nation’s capital in 2005 and just the second NLCS appearance in franchise history. The pitching matchup is as yet unknown, as neither the Nationals nor the Dodgers have officially announced their starters for Tuesday’s game.

Nationals manager Dusty Baker has narrowed the choice down to two, telling the Washington Post, “it’s probably between Reynaldo [Lopez] and [Joe] Ross, so we haven’t really decided yet.” Baker followed up by asking, “Who’s starting for them?”

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, however, has also yet to make an official decision as to Tuesday’s starter. Roberts acknowledged in an interview after Game 3 that he will be deciding between 20-year-old rookie Julio Urias and ace Clayton Kershaw, who would be pitching on short rest.

Roberts’ decision will likely be a key tipping point in this series. Urias may be at a greater advantage pitching Game 4 at home than Game 5 on the road, but for that to matter, the Dodgers still have to win Game 4 first. Kershaw may start on short rest if Roberts decides that the three-time Cy Young winner is the best option to win this crucial game.

“We still have to win two games,” Roberts said in an interview after Game 3. “So the thought of having Julio pitch at home versus the road is something that we’re thinking through, and what gives us the best chance to win two games.”
