Cubs lose Game 6 of NLCS in horrific fashion (prewrite do not publish)

The Cubs blew a (number of runs) lead in Game 6, setting up a do-or-die Game 7 for the pennant.

The Chicago Cubs with a (number of runs) lead and (number of outs) remaining, could not shake the monkey off their back, blowing a large lead in the late innings, and setting up a must-win Game 7, in which all the momentum will be in the dugout of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

It’s hard to know where to begin.

Kyle Hendricks was cruising through his start, dominating the Dodgers through (number of innings). In the (inning), he ran into trouble when (hitter) blooped a 110-foot dead bird over the head of (dejected infielder). After a single to put runners on first and second, Yasiel Puig hit a grounder that should have been a double play ball, but was (juggled/bobbled/swallowed) by Javier Baez.

That brought in Aroldis Chapman, who started his outing by (walking/hitting) the first batter he faced. Three doubles later, (Adrian Gonzalez, probably) hit the home run over Sheffield that will be replayed for years.

Much will be made about the fan who (I don’t know, got wasted, fell down, and got caught in the basket above the left-field fence, causing play to stop right when Chapman threw what would have been a called strike three to Gonzalez?), and that person’s life is most definitely ruined. However, he wasn’t the one who threw the 99-mph meatball down the middle on the very next pitch. It’s a tangled mess, this one.

However, there is still a Game 7 on Sunday, and the Cubs are still an excellent baseball team with a fantastic lineup, and they’ll have one of their aces pitching at home.

For right now, though, every last Cubs fan is (very sad/very sad), as usual. They were so close. They were so very close.

Holy shit.
