The finalists for the 2016 MLB Manager of the Year awards were announced on Monday and the two World Series teams have a chance to bring home more hardware. Terry Francona is among the finalists in the American League while Joe Maddon is a finalist for the National League award.
Terry Francona, Joe Maddon headline Manager of the Year finalists
Five of the six finalists have won the award before.

In addition to Francona, Jeff Banister of the Rangers and Buck Showalter of the Orioles are finalists in the American League. The three are familiar faces for this award, as they combined to win the last three years. Francona won in 2013, Showalter won (for the third time) in 2014, and Banister won last season. Of the three, Showalter is the only manager who didn’t win a division title this year, with the Orioles instead making the playoffs as a wild card team.
In the National League, Maddon headlines the finalists, and is joined by Dave Roberts of the Dodgers and Dusty Baker of the Nationals. Maddon guided the Cubs to 103 wins, and the best record in baseball. He won Manager of the Year last year. He also won it twice in the American League while he was coaching Tampa Bay. Baker has won the award three times, but not since 2000. Roberts is the only finalist in either league who has not won the award previously. He guided the Dodgers to 91 wins in his first season as an MLB manager.
The winners of the Manager of the Year awards will be announced on Nov. 15.
