Listen, we know it’s tough to catch up on everything happening in the baseball world each morning. There are all kinds of stories, rumors, game coverage, and Vines of dudes getting hit in the beans every day. Trying to find all of it while on your way to work or sitting at your desk just isn’t easy. It’s okay, though. We’re going to do the heavy lifting for you each morning, and find the things you need to see from within the SB Nation baseball network, as well as from elsewhere. Please hold your applause until the end, or at least until after you subscribe to the newsletter.
Opening Day is in less than a week!
Monday’s Say Hey, Baseball includes a reminder that Opening Day is soon, the Orioles’ latest weirdness and how 2016 could go wrong for the Tigers.

* * *
Sure, things might seem a little boring right now in the baseball world. Sunday was Easter, and all you’re getting for news at this point are opt-outs and roster cuts from fringe players. (OK, OK, sometimes you get disappointing injury news, too.) However, this is all leading to what we’ve all been waiting for, which is the start of actual baseball that counts: the 2016 season is just six days away!
By this time next week, a few teams will have already kicked off the next campaign, and everyone else will be set to begin. In the meantime, we’ve got previews to wade through, Montreal’s annual exhibition hosting of the Blue Jays -- this time against the Red Sox -- and some final roster decisions across the league. Maybe it’s not as great as Actual Baseball, but we can all agree it’s better than another inning of spring training action. Especially since now it feels like there’s an end in sight for all of it.
Cardinals vs. Pirates. Blue Jays vs. Rays. Mets vs. Royals in a World Series rematch. Just six more days, and we’ll get Matt Harvey and Adam Wainwright and Alex Gordon and Jose Bautista in our lives once more. We’ve already waited this long. We can do six more days, right? Guess we kind of have to.
- Joey Votto is doing something weird in between pitches.
- Michael Brantley's injury didn't end up in worst-case, back-at-midseason territory, but Indians manager Terry Francona would be surprised if Brantley played for him in the first week of the season.
- The Orioles might already be trying to find a way to send Hyun Soo Kim -- whom they signed this offseason -- back to South Korea and the KBO. They can't send him back to the minors, and he's struggled during spring training, and also this is the Orioles we're talking about.
- This is how it could all go wrong for the Tigers in 2016.
- The Red Sox contacted the Padres about a trade for a pitcher, but it wasn't for James Shields, and it might have been with July in mind, too.
- Your reminder that Paul Goldschmidt is great.
- The Astros, Braves and Brewers discussed a three-team deal involving Jonathan Lucroy this offseason, but the Brewers' asking price shut those proceedings down.
- Recent MLB games in Havana and Mexico City might give a glimpse at what expansion could look like well down the road.
