Tuesday’s Say Hey, Baseball includes Tim Tebow’s attempt at pro ball, the unpredictable AL East, and a Corey Seager scare.

Listen, we know it’s tough to catch up on everything happening in the baseball world each morning. There are all kinds of stories, rumors, game coverage and Vines of dudes getting hit in the beans every day. Trying to find all of it while on your way to work or sitting at your desk just isn’t easy. It’s okay, though, we’re going to do the heavy lifting for you each morning, and find the things you need to see from within the SB Nation baseball network, as well as from elsewhere. Please hold your applause until the end, or at least until after you subscribe to the newsletter.

Tired of hearing about Tim Tebow? Well, sorry about that, but he’s in the news now and might continue to be if it turns out he’s still any good at baseball. His workout is Tuesday in Los Angeles, and while all 30 teams were invited, 30 teams will not be in attendance. However, half the league and maybe more will be there to see him show off his skills, and at least one team is even sending a number of scouts. Whether Tebow ends up with a contract from a major-league team or not, he has some offers out there to consider: an independent league team has sent him a contract, as has a winter league team in Venezuela.

Winter ball is an intriguing thing, as those teams cut MLB players if they aren’t pulling their weight: They want to win, as this isn’t just some developmental thing where MLB teams are giving their players some more reps. Would Tebow even survive a season in a league like that? At the least, it would be a good challenge for him, and if he manages to stick around for an entire winter season, it might give him another chance at joining the minor-league team of an MLB club next spring. That’s if he remains unsigned after his workout, of course.

As we’ve discussed before, Tebow’s chances of making it even in the minors are slim. He has little to lose, though, given he was already out of professional sports, and no one expects him to succeed, anyway. After Tuesday, his chances will be slightly less hypothetical, as we’ll finally hear what he looks like as a baseball player from someone besides those paid to help him along in his dream. Maybe there is some skill left to mine there, or maybe Tebow should have made this call to baseball back in high school when he was still playing ball on the reg. Regardless of the outcome, we’ll be a little closer to it by this time tomorrow.
