Yasiel Puig bat flipped an RBI double and people got mad because of course they did

Puig might be unpredictable, but baseball fans aren’t.

Yasiel Puig, divisive personality and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder, hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning Saturday night. Because he’s Yasiel Puig, and will bat flip every chance he can get and smile doing it.

But since he’s Yasiel Puig, not everybody loved that he bat flipped on not-a-home-run. Which is silly, because it was fun and awesome. See for yourself.

Leading the way of the “people cranky because a baseball player had fun” is, of course, none other than Top Ranked Cranky White Guy In Media, Keith Olbermann. He keeps the trophy for that honor on the mantelpiece over his gas-powered fireplace (I’m just assuming).

A few people were a little confused about it, but seemed okay with the decision.

Some people are correct in this situation though, Exhibit A:

It’s the NLCS. It’s a game. Let the man have fun and bat flip on whatever he wants. To hell with the unwritten rule of not showboating on non-homers.

Hilariously, Puig then hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh and DIDN’T bat flip. What a guy, never the expected choice.

He did come out for a curtain call that nobody really seemed like they were scrambling for, so to each their own.

To each their own.

UPDATE: After the game, Puig responded to Olbermann, and this story got a happy ending:
