SB Nation predicts the 2017 MLB postseason

It’s that time of year again, where we come up with predictions that will definitely be correct even though they are individual predictions and varying in nature. Don’t ask how it works, it’ll ruin the trick.

And definitely don’t email us about being wrong, which won’t happen, anyway, so why am I even writing that?

That’s six for the Yankees, three for the Twins, eight for the D-Backs, and one lone Rockies pick by Grant Brisbee.

Regardless of whether we had Twins or Yankees facing Cleveland, we all have the Indians winning their ALDS. The other ALDS features six picks for the Astros and three for the Red Sox. The same split exists for the Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks, with six on LA’s side and three for Arizona. We’ve got seven of nine for the Nationals over the Cubs, not necessarily because we think they’ll win an NLDS (can you imagine lol) but because if the Nats actually do win a playoff series sometime, we’d like to be able to say we called it.

Seven of us picked the Indians to represent the AL in the World Series, with the other two going Astros. Sorry, the Red Sox, Yankees, and Twins, but not one of us believes in you, and doubling down by writing that here for people to reference later definitely will never come back to haunt us.

As for the NL, there’s a lot more diversity of opinion. We have two for the Nationals, two for the D-Backs, one Cubs, and winner by plurality, the Dodgers with four.

Two for the Astros, four for the Indians, one Dodgers, one Nationals, and one Diamondbacks. Personally, the Indians are the best team in the postseason, but the best team doesn’t always win, and also it’s my personal belief the Indians need to lose to each ‘90s National League expansion team — preferably in heartbreaking fashion, a la 1997 — before they can win their first title since 1948. See, I’m trying to help Cleveland along: Maybe they can lose to the Rockies next year and then wrap this storyline by 2019.

Why didn’t everyone else get to justify their picks in the prediction column? Because I’m the one who made the tables and put this together, duh. Maybe you can volunteer next time.
