Astros vs. Dodgers 2017 live stream: Time, TV channel, and how to watch World Series Game 6 online

LOS ANGELES — The Houston Astros have a chance to capture their first championship, while the Los Angeles Dodgers try to stay alive in Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles (7:30 p.m. ET, Fox).

Houston leads the series three games to two, including wins in the two extra-inning classics — Game 2 in Los Angeles and Game 5 in Houston.

The two teams have combined for 22 home runs — 13 for the Astros, nine for the Dodgers — already setting the record for most home runs in a single World Series, with at least one game remaining, maybe two.

“For both teams, I think we realize on the pitching side, both teams are at the very end of their rope when it comes to the season, when it comes to high-leverage situations, the intensity of their innings, and their mistakes are getting hit,” Astros manager A.J. Hinch said Monday. “But the volume is certainly record-setting and certainly the intensity of the moments that are ending in home runs is hard to fathom.”

Justin Verlander gets the start for the Astros. He left Game 2 trailing after giving up two home runs but got a no-decision in Houston’s comeback victory in 11 innings. Since joining the Astros, Verlander is 9-0 with a 1.53 ERA, with 72 strikeouts and 13 walks in 64⅔ innings.

Rich Hill starts for the Dodgers. He has a 2.77 ERA in his three starts this postseason but has three no-decisions, having been pulled after four innings twice and five innings once this October. Among pitchers with at least 40 starts since the beginning of the 2015 season, Hill’s 156 ERA+ ranks second in baseball, behind only teammate Clayton Kershaw.

“I think if you dig into the numbers, the second best pitcher in baseball over the last couple of years has been Rich Hill,” Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner said. “Just the veteran presence he has on the mound, the composure, the competitiveness that he brings, the fire. It’s huge for us.”

Whether this series ends Tuesday or Wednesday, it will be the third World Series decided at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers finished off a sweep of the Yankees in 1963 in Los Angeles, then in 1978 the Yankees beat the Dodgers in six games.

Dodgers vs. Astros news & notes

Joc Pederson was sent to the minors in August amid a 2-for-41 slump, and ended his regular season in a 6-for-63 skid. He has an extra-base hit in four straight games and is hitting .364 (4 for 11) with two walks:

The Dodgers record for extra-base hits in a World Series is six, with Duke Snider hitting four home runs and two doubles in 1952.

Pederson will start in Game 6, still benefiting from a mechanical change — “He’s more set in his legs,” Roberts said — made when he was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in August.

“For him it’s just that focus on every pitch. Right now in the postseason you’re seeing him stay in the strike zone,” Roberts said. “These are the best at-bats I’ve seen him over a certain period of time in two years.”

Both bullpens are running on fumes at this point in the series, and the season. David Coleman at The Crawfish Boxes has an idea why:

The thing about relievers is this: they’re terrible. Even the good ones are always lurking on the edge of being awful, awful pitchers who tear out your heart and step on it repeatedly.

...

It’s not like the Astros are unique here. Their bullpen has been atrocious and untrustworthy, but the Dodgers have been just as bad. How many times in Games 1 and 2 did you hear Joe Buck gush about how great the Dodgers bullpen has been, which caused you to spontaneously vomit. No? Was that just me?

How short is Jose Altuve, really? A very serious investigation
