Jose Altuve rocks three home runs in ALDS Game 1 and now his name is Jose Al-three-ve

We get it, you’re good at hitting home runs.

Jose Altuve’s actual name is Jose Al-three-ve for the rest of today. That’s the law; the change is being made as we speak, actually. This is your fate should you hit three home runs in one postseason game when your name already has the number two built right in.

Altuve jacked three bombs against the Red Sox in the first game of the American League Division Series, and even if he hadn’t, Houston would have won anyway.

But that doesn’t matter, because he hit three solo shots anyway, running up the score long after his team needed the help. And boy, it was a lot of fun to watch.

With that performance, Altuve became only the ninth player to hit three or more home runs in a postseason game. He joins Pablo Sandoval in the 2012 World Series, Albert Pujols in the 2011 World Series, Adrian Beltre in the ALDS in 2011, Adam Kennedy in the ALDS in 2002, George Brett in the ALCS in 1978, Reggie Jackson in the 1977 World Series, Bob Robertson in the NLCS in 1971, and Babe Ruth in both the 1926 and 1928 World Series.

In case you missed any of them, here they are in all their dinger glory. As Bob Costas would tell you (and tell you, and tell you) he took advantage of Minute Maid Park’s magnificent asymmetrical architecture to hit bombs.

He’s also just really good at hitting bombs.

So, so good at hitting dingers.
