After Yuli Gurriel mocked Yu Darvish with a racist gesture, he returned to Dodger Stadium and got “welcomed” with a rain of boos from the fans during each of his plate appearances in Game 6.
Yuli Gurriel tipped his helmet to Yu Darvish in Game 7 as Dodgers fans booed him again
It was his first time facing Darvish since the racist incident in Game 3.

Rich Hill even stepped off the mound to let the fans continue their booing, and Astros manager AJ Hinch said “That was as loud and as long a boo as I’ve heard in my time in sports.“
The fans kept their booing efforts up in Game 7 on Wednesday, but in Gurriel’s first at-bat in the final game of the series he faced Darvish again. In a respectful and quick gesture, Gurriel doffed his helmet toward Darvish as a silent apology for his actions.
Darvish previously called for love instead of anger over the incident, and declined to meet with Gurriel for an in-person apology after Gurriel apologized via a statement to the media in a postgame press conference.
Gurriel will have to sit out the first 5 games of next season because of his gesture toward Darvish.
