Astros parade 2017: Route, map, and road closures for World Series celebration

In case you missed it, the Astros are having a parade to celebrate their World Series win. That’s appropriate, and it’s in line with what literally every championship team has done for many years.

And since this is the first World Series the Astros have ever won, it’s likely to be a big parade. If you’re heading to the celebrations, or are simply curious about city planning and parade routes, you’ll probably want to know what roads this parade will be taking as it winds its way through the city of Houston.

The route that the city has chosen for this Friday’s confetti-filled romp (slated for a 3 p.m. ET start time) is one tit’s used before — for things such as Thanksgiving parades.

There are about 500,000 people expected to attend (that’s a little under a quarter of the entire city’s population of 2.3 million people), so these streets are going to be packed.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the parade is set to kick off at the intersection of Smith and Lamar, continuing north on Smith before turning east on Walker, looping south on Milam before turning around by going west on Pease, and then turning north on Smith again and ending where it began back on Lamar.
